How Did I Live Without These?! Hair Tools Everyone Needs!!

Have you ever stood with a group of women and one turns to another and says “Your hair is so beautiful! What’s your trick?” Then the other simply plays it down and says something like “Oh no I just gave it a blow dry this is just what it does…” Then every other women starts talking about how much trouble their hair is, or how they wished their hair was, or what they would do if they just had an stylist everyday, because their hair takes so much time and no matter what they do it never seems to come out how they want.

When we were little girls we all wished for different hair at one time or another. I know I did. I had a friend growing up who had the most beautiful thick jet black hair that was so curly. My hair has always been blonde and straight. So I wished my hair was more like hers. Or simply had even a wave to it. You know whats funny though? She always told me how much she loved my hair and wished hers was like mine. I would laugh because to me mine was so plain why would she want that.

So many of us do this. We wish an aspect of our self was different because we see what someone else has and we tell ourselves it is better than what we have. However now as an adult I love my hair. I love the simplicity of it. I took that for granted. Then I realized what my friend had to do everyday to get her hair to look the way it did. I realized the amount of product she had to use even on days where it was just getting tossed up in a pony tail.

Today as a busy mom and business owner I have a full plate. I don’t have a daily stylist either. But over the years I have figured out what my hair needs and how to have it look its best at all times.

Do you struggle with your hair? I did for years. I had no idea the tools to use or what was out there to use. I spent years of trial and effort using different products and gadgets. I can say that today I can do my hair and have it look like I visited a salon in less than thirty minutes. Yes, no joke less than thirty minutes. This is like magic and if you are a busy woman you know that.

Let me help you get back some much valued time and save you a ton of money.

To start off first I know all hair types are different. I also know that coloring your hair also has affects. The big picture here is that there are simple tools that can help any hair type and can cut huge time off your morning routine. For me that’s a win!

Lets get started.

I have owned every gadget, gizmo, and tool you could possibly own for your hair. Most of them are a complete waste. They just sit in the closet taking up space. Typically we hold on to them thinking “Oh I’ll use that again someday so let me hold onto it…” let me tell you don’t. If you haven’t use it in a year (or even two, I see you) then bless and release that stuff it is not for you. This could be irons, brushes, products just fill a bag and drop it at your local woman’s shelter.

Next what is your routine? What tools are you using everyday? and here is the big question Are you getting the look you want?

For me I have long blonde thin hair. Forever I couldn’t figure out how to style it so it wasn’t just flat, straight, and plain. However even at that you would think “No problem that is so quick there is nothing to it.” Wrong I still had to blow dry my hair and that took forever. It was a time suck and it still wasn’t looking as good as it could.

So how did I shave a ton of time and have my hair look ten times better? Plus made a ton of room in my cabinets? I got two tools that changed my life. I also got rid of the rest!

Have you heard of these? The Revlon one step? Or the 2-1 Flat Iron Curler?

Now let me be clear. I am not a pro hair stylist. I spent years completely illiterate in the space of hair care. But the more that I show up in the world and the more I put my self out there I want to look my best, I want to feel my best, and doing your hair is part of that. I know it seems so cliche but it is true. I also know that for so many they just don’t because it is one more thing on the long list of “to-do’s” , I feel you that was me, but really these two tools have changed my life when it comes to hair.

Let’s start with the Revlon one step. I have never needed to flat iron my hair or at least I didn’t think I needed to because it was already straight. I also had a blow dryer and a round brush so I should have been all set right? Wrong. I got this on the suggestion of another friend. She was raving about hers. Yet we have completely different hair types. Hers is long curly dyed and thick, and she used a flat iron pretty regularly. So I didn’t really think I needed it. Then I was out and saw one, on a whim grabbed it. I figured why not try it, if I don’t like it I’ll just return it.

Well I loved it! It took my 45 minute blow dry to 15 minutes and it gave my hair just the right amount of volume. Plus it made the ends look smooth and polished. I use it everyday now!

However sometimes I want to take it up a notch. I want to add some curl or added volume. I have used all types of curling irons, curlers, and such but within an hour my hair is as flat as it was when I started. I tried different products and setting times. None of it mattered. Which was incredibly frustrating. Then I kept seeing this ridiculous curler on Youtube, Facebook, Instagram, and Pintrest. I felt like it was stalking me. Clearly they had profiled me and their analytics where on point. But I wasn’t falling for it!

Until I got overly curious. I had been wanting the Dyson air curler , you’ve seen it right?, but at the same time I wasn’t sure I would even like my hair curled all the time. But there is just something about that look. Right? So I made a compromise with myself. Even though they aren’t the same technology if I got this tool which wasn’t a car payment and I used it regularly I would eventually get myself the Dyson set. Because let’s be real I just love their products. ( I will tell you about my vacuum obsession in another blog)

So I got the 2-1 Flat Iron Curler. Now it was tricky the first time I used it. I watched a bunch of Youtube videos on it and how to use it to have the best outcome. Which is pretty standard when you get anything new. You can’t expect to go novice to expert in one go round. However the second time I used it I was shocked. It was amazing my hair looked as though I had a stylist do it! I was so pleased I forgot to put product in and you know what? It still held ALL day! I was floored. I have had it since November and I have now used it over a dozen times (that’s a lot for me) and each time it has yet to fail me. It takes me 15 minutes to do all my hair and I am shocked each time! The simplicity and the speed is amazing.

I may upgrade to the Dyson at some point but for now I absolutely love these two tools. They have saved me so much time and allowed me to look and feel my best!

Keep an eye out for “how to videos” to come!
