Grab a coffee (or drink of choice) and lets have a chat. I want to talk with you about some stuff that has been coming up and somethings people have been asking me.

There is so much talk right now about "mindfulness," meditation, "returning to self," and all these things that seem completely "Woo-Woo" to the mass majority of people. Let's just say the "Weird kids" are finally getting their chance to shine! So many people I talk to say "I have been the weird kid my whole life, I am finally starting to feel centered!" some laughingly adding "it took me long enough."

Maybe you have recognized it maybe you haven't. Either way it’s all good. However over the last few years there has been a shift happening. Like a gentle breeze. I'm sure those that came before us are doing a celebration dance where ever they are.

The Woo is becoming "main stream" . Finally it’s become "popular" to live holistically. Oh and AS YOURSELF! Hallelujah it is about time!  We have been here the whole time but we are so humbled and appreciative for people like Oprah, Gabby, Joe Dispenza, and Dr. Brad to step up and shed the light. To open the eyes and educate the masses to what it is to live holistically, to practice energy modalities and share them for the greater good.

ALL THIS HOLISTIC TALK

Let's just start out by saying this is not a "new wave fad" (as much as some would love you to believe) holistic health is centuries old. Far before writing. The first peoples looked at health from a combination of a healthy mind, body, heart, and spirit as a type of balance. A wholeness.

What the helk does it mean though?

The term holistic healing came from the word holism. This is the theory that parts of a whole item, thing, or person are intimately connected. The idea is that they cannot exist independently nor can they be understood without reference to the whole. Think about it like a puzzle. When it comes to medicinal terms, holism is about treating the whole person instead of focusing on only the physical symptoms of a disease or illness. This is the part that boggles most people. On the surface only one thing is “causing” a problem. The bigger picture is that under the surface many things have been out of balance and/or alignment and the one thing is actually the bodies cry for help. The white flag if you will. This is why holistic practitioners take into account the mental, emotional, and social factors that might be contributing to the patient’s symptoms and problems.

Fast forward to today. Thousands of years after holistic medicine planted its roots. There have been many attempts to discredit and destroy these ideas, forms and medical practices that have taken place, yet they withstood the test of time. Even attempts to discredit holistic healing practices have not shaken it with criticism from doubting believers. One of the most effective and commonly practiced methods of holistic medicine today is energy healing.

SO WHAT THE H#LL IS ENERGY WORK

In the big and small energy work is an alternative means of healing. Energy healing refers to the belief that physical, mental, and emotional ailments can be treated by using the mind-body connection to identify, access, channel, balance, and manipulate the energies that promote healing and well-being. Unlike traditional medicine that simply treats the outward symptoms of a disease or illness. Energy healing looks at and uses all aspects of the patient’s life, body, and mind to find a solution create balance and wholeness once again. In turn “healing” the body.

Some modalities that have been shared for centuries are so common now. Let me list a few and you can see if you recognize them. Maybe you have even experienced them!

  • Acupuncture

  • Aroma Therapy

  • Yoga

  • Hypnosis

  • Massage therapy

  • Chiropractic

  • Herbalism

  • Reiki

  • Reflexology

  • Naturopathy

Are you surprised at how many holistic practices are so well known and accepted? This is just a small glimpse. As there are so many more. Telling you about all of them would take far to long.

So lets make this extremely easy to understand energy work is about being able to open your mind. Thinking out side the box. It’s about accepting help from outside of yourself.

Of course you may be reading this and saying “Oh but I read…” and yes there have been many attempts to discredit non-traditional medicine. There have been many people who run from one practitioner to another because they don’t hear what they want, get the result they want, or sadly the practitioner isn’t as knowledgeable with what the client needs. This happens in main stream medicine too so lets keep that in mind. However, at this point holistic practices have gotten so much notoriety that there are hundreds of thousands of studies, and scientific research backing more and more alternative methods, and with that people are beginning to understand and reap the benefits of holistic healing.

WHAT NOW?

Whether you are new to the world of holistic healing or you have been practicing alternative methods and medicine for years it is always great to learn more, experience new practices, and grow. I am a life long learner and am always adding to my life tool box. Take some time to learn more about a holistic practice that resonates to you. Book a session in a modality you haven’t experienced yet.

I invite you to share in the comments what modalities have you experienced, practice, or would like to learn more about. Also feel free to ask any questions you might have.
